Bringing Smiles, the CSR program of Brillio, a global technology consulting and business Solutions Company focused on digital technologies and big data analytics announced that it had received awards in two categories at the 3rd Annual CSR Awards Ceremony, organized by India CSR.
Brillio won awards across the following categories:
Employee Volunteering: Our innovative volunteering program TGIF received special appreciation from the jury for being the program-based sustainable volunteering rather than an event based approach.
One of the employee volunteering programs which we introduced is called TGIF (Thank God It’s Friday!). Previously, Fridays were associated with long lunches and the fun and leisure that weekends promise. Now, TGIF has a new meaning. Every Friday between 2-3 pm, Brillio employees, or ‘Brillians’ as we call ourselves, get together and immerse in various volunteering programs that make a meaningful impact. As part of the initiative, we visit government schools in Bengaluru and Trivandrum to teach English and Mathematics to students. The classes are conducted through a structured syllabus that has been developed on the basis of feedback from the school and our own internal assessment of the students. This supplements what they learn in the class and helps them improve their grades. Our aim is to empower the community through digital literacy using a structured and sustainable volunteering model. We endeavour to reach 100,000 volunteering hours by the year 2020. We witnessed immense participation just within the first year of introducing our Bringing Smiles program.
Technology in CSR: Brillio’s 100,000 Smiles Program was recognised under this category where we have impacted 5000 young minds through technology and aim to enable over 100,000 young minds globally to thrive in a new digital economy through e-learning projects, innovation workshops, science experiments, interactive self-learning initiatives and active skill-sharing.
Our team works with various government schools to reduce the digital divide. We strive to provide the same level of exposure and innovation to all. We want to support and invest in a new digital economy through smart classes, e-learning projects, innovation workshops, interactive self-learning initiatives and active skills sharing. Along with our umbrella of NGO partners, we co-innovate, and intend to scale up in this space. End-to-end project management of all our programs is taken care in-house, by the CSR team; and with the help of our employees, either physically or digitally. Few of our projects include Brillio iMobile Lab, e-teaching program, hosting Digital Day and Science day, IT infrastructure support for schools and colleges.
India CSR Awards is one of the prestigious recognitions honouring the outstanding and innovative CSR, Sustainability and Social Enterprise Projects and leadership in CSR. This year’s theme for the India CSR Awards was ‘Celebrating Innovation and Leadership in CSR’. India CSR Awards have been instituted to recognize the innovative CSR Practices in India and this is the third edition of India CSR Awards. The event is supported by BIMTECH Noida and Pehel, the CSR arm of Dainik Jagran Group.
Shri T. B. Jayachandra, Hon’ble Minister for Law, Parliamentary Affairs & Higher Education, Govt. of Karnataka was the Chief Guest. Dr. Bhaskar Chatterjee, DG & CEO, IICA, New Delhi was the guest of honour.
“I truly believe that by exposing underprivileged children to disruptive technologies early in life fuels their imagination and in turn democratizes the innovation and entrepreneurship process,” said Raj Mamodia, CEO of Brillio.
About Brillio CSR
Brillio, which is just two and half years old, has a very robust CSR practice. Internally, CSR is referred as the soul of the organization. Our CSR journey started in 2015 with the belief that to build a great company it is not enough just to develop great products and solutions but also contribute to the society. Brillio’s CSR initiatives are directly driven under the guidance of our CEO, Raj Mamodia, thereafter lead by the CSR team.
‘Bringing Smiles’ is the theme for our overall global CSR initiative. It essentially stands for bringing joy and smiles to young minds through digital technology and technology intervention. Brillio believes that as a technology company, along with business growth, we can also make an impact in society by providing technologies for education, digital literacy, and skill development. From the beginning, the company had a clear vision and focus on three areas: technology intervention and education, digital literacy and skill development with technology.
